The Triple A is an award distributed each term to students who meet the College's expectations with regards to Attendance, Attitude and Achievement. This award, if earned by a student, appears on their report. Students must meet the criteria below to be eligible for this award.
Students must attend the College every day unless there is a good reason. Whatever the reason, verification is required from the parents or caregivers. Students will need to have no unexplained absences and less than five late arrivals each term in order to be eligible.
Generally, a good attitude includes such things as being punctual to lessons, listening well, contributing ideas, beginning work quickly, being prepared for lessons and meeting deadlines for work to be submitted for assessment. As well as the above, specific subjects have individual criteria that enable students to demonstrate that they have a satisfactory, or better, attitude towards their studies. Students need to have earned a 'satisfactory', 'good' or 'excellent' attitude indicator in their report for each subject to be eligible.
If a student is achieving the criteria in the first two requirements for the Triple A Award then usually high achievement in each subject follows. Students are required to achieve a 'C' grade or better in all of their subjects in order to be eligible.
This award was instituted at Thomas More College in response to studies which indicate that students achieve better results at school when their attendance and attitude are exemplary. Our students demonstrate that when all of the above criteria are met, they do indeed achieve better results at school.
