Extra Curricular Sport

"Thomas More College offers an extensive sports program which operates apart from our Physical Education Curriculum"

Knockout Sport is played at Thomas More College in the SASSSA Statewide competitions. This means that if the team wins they progress through to the next round; if they lose they are knocked out of the competition. Some sports such as Volleyball and Touch play all day tournaments and the top two teams go through to the State finals. Knockout Sport is conducted during school time.

Thomas More enters teams in such sports as Basketball, Badminton, Cricket, Tennis, Touch, Netball, Football, Soccer, Volleyball and Table Tennis.

Trainings are held at lunch time or after school for these sports.

As well as Knockout Sports, Thomas More also participates in Interschool Athletics and Swimming Carnivals during Term 1 of each year.

Year 8 students also have a one day Sports Carnival sponsored by the Knights of the Southern Cross against students from St Columba and Xavier Colleges. The sports they can participate in are Football, Soccer, Netball, Table Tennis and Basketball.

Junior and Senior girls also have the opportunity to play an all day Netball tournament against other schools in the Northern Zone.

Students choosing to participate in extra curricular sport are coached by staff and attend training in the lead up to competition.

We believe education is at the heart of a life well lived. It is a philosophy we instil in our students and one which underpins our College maxim.
