Disability Support Officer (DSO) 

Role Details 

We're on the lookout for a superstar to join us as our next Disability Support Officer, an integral role that directly supports students at Thomas More College.

Working as part of the Inclusive Education Team, the Disability Support Officer (DSO) will work collaboratively with other staff to ensure pathways for students are developed and that students are ready to achieve successful learning outcomes. The role will include:

  • Assisting students with emotional regulation, behaviour management, wellbeing, and modified learning programs to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Attend and contribute to case meetings for students, which may include College Counsellors, Occupational Therapists, Behaviour Therapists and Parents, to debrief on student progress and discuss plans to be implemented.
  • Assist teachers with the implementation of learning programs such as to support literacy and numeracy development, and social and interpersonal skills, and other programs designed to allow students with substantial and extensive learning disabilities to access their learning entitlement.
  • Assist teachers with collaborative writing of PPLs (Personalised Plan for Learning).
  • Assist teachers with numeracy and literacy interventions and modifications.

We're looking for someone who has:

  • A professional tertiary qualification in a related field (e.g. Certificate IV in Disability).
  • Knowledge of a wide range of learning and developmental disabilities.
  • Strong relationship management, interpersonal and networking skills.
  • Strong customer service skills coupled with a demonstrated ability to deal with a broad range of people from diverse backgrounds with tact and discretion.
  • Experience in working in the disability and education industries, with previous exposure to working in school environments.

Receptionist

Role Details

We're on the lookout for a superstar to join us as our Receptionist, an integral role to the ongoing success of Thomas More College.

Woking as part of the front office team, the Receptionist’s key role is to consistently provide high quality, confidential, accurate and timely administrative and operational support to the visitors and staff of the College. The role will include:

  • Ensuring that the initial contact with the College is welcoming for all parents, students and visitors and assisting them with their enquiries.
  • Support the Executive Team, key personnel and general staff with word processing and other administrative tasks.
  • Assist in the delivery of messages for students, or about students to relevant staff.
  • Collate orders and maintain office, stationery, and general supplies for staff usage.

We're looking for someone who has:

  • Experience and comfortability in fast-paced office environments.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and experience with a variety of databases.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and organisational skills.
