Prohibited Substances Policy

"Thomas More College is committed to making our community a safe and happy environment. Concerns about drugs, bullying and violence are widespread in many communities and they have no place in our College."

It is our expectation that students will not, while on College premises, at College functions, whilst wearing College uniform or travelling to or from the College:

  • Smoke tobacco
  • Consume alcohol
  • Possess or use prohibited drugs
  • Possess drug-related equipment (except in the cases of lawful medical use)
  • Possess any intimidating or harmful articles
  • Intimidate others
Students who choose to ignore College expectations on these matters will be faced with a range of consequences depending on the circumstances and previous behaviour.

It is important for students and their parents or carer's to know however, that the possession and/or sale of illegal drugs is against the law and police will be notified. Suspension or exclusion from the College community could result depending on the circumstances.

We believe education is at the heart of a life well lived. It is a philosophy we instil in our students and one which underpins our College maxim.
