Music A

Assessment Task 1: Musicianship Test (25%) - Students demonstrate their knowledge on concepts learnt in class through a written test 

Assessment Task 2: Oral Presentation (25%) - Students present their knowledge of an explored genre of music in the form of an oral presentation 

Assessment Task 3: Melody Writing (25%) - Students will put their understanding of scales and chords into practice by writing a melody using MuseScore 

Assessment Task 4: Performance (25%) - Students prepare and rehearse a group performance of 1-4 minutes on their chosen instrument. 

 

Music B

Assessment Task 1: Sheet Music Analysis (25%) - Students analyse a piece of sheet music and in a written response explain how the composer has used musical elements and their effectiveness. 

Assessment Task 2: Oral Presentation (25%) - Students select a musical tradition from a culture outside of Western music. They will research the tradition and prepare an oral presentation. 

Assessment Task 3: Nursery Rhyme Arrangement (25%) - Students will create a new arrangement of a nursery rhyme using MuseScore 

Assessment Task 4: Solo Performance (25%) - Students prepare and rehearse an individual performance of 1-4 minutes on their chosen instrument.
