Thomas More College named in the Educator's 5 Star Best Schools 2026

Thomas More College has been recognised as one of Educator's 5-Star Best Schools for 2026, a prestigious national award celebrating schools that demonstrate excellence across key areas of contemporary education.

The award acknowledges schools that excel in six critical areas:

At the heart of the College's vision for 2026 is the theme "Embrace Your Excellence."

More than a tagline, it captures the belief that excellence looks different for every student. At TMC, success is measured through breadth, depth, diversity and excellence. Students are encouraged to understand their own strengths and challenges, develop agency as learners, and pursue growth and success in ways that are meaningful to them.

This philosophy recognises that young people are more than a number. Every student experiences learning, challenge, achievement and personal growth differently, and TMC is committed to supporting each learner on their individual journey.

A cornerstone of this approach is the College's nationally recognised TMC Learner Profile, an authentic assessment, reflection and growth tool that empowers students to take ownership of their learning and development.

Developed collaboratively with students and staff, the Learner Profile is underpinned by the College's co-constructed Wellbeing Values and Learner Behaviours, providing a shared language that connects learning, wellbeing and personal development.

This innovative work has positioned TMC as a national leader in student agency and contemporary educational practice. Later this year, the College's approach will be showcased internationally at the International Confederation of Principals Convention in Auckland, New Zealand.

A Record-Breaking Year

The 5-Star Best Schools recognition comes after what has been the most successful year in the College's history.

Highlights from 2025 include:

• A record enrolment of approximately 1,203 students
• The highest Year 12 results ever achieved at TMC
• An 8% increase in A grades compared with the previous record-setting year
• The College Dux, who also served as a College Captain, being recognised as one of only 40 recipients statewide of the Governor's Commendation Excellence Award
• A record number of SACE Merits, achieving 13 more than the previous year
• 285 students in Years 10 to 12 enrolled in a full VET Certificate or short-course vocational pathway, the highest participation rate in the College's history

These achievements reflect TMC's commitment to providing diverse pathways that enable students to pursue excellence through academic, vocational, leadership, service and co-curricular opportunities.
