Thomas More College Finalised Master Plan - Marking an Exciting New Chapter in Specialist Learning

The College is proud to announce the finalisation of its Master Plan, a transformative vision that will guide the next stage of development and investment across our campus. This milestone represents a significant moment in the College's history, laying the foundation for exceptional learning environments that will enrich the educational experience for generations of students to come.

Following years of strategic growth and the successful expansion of general learning facilities to accommodate increasing enrolments, the College is now turning its focus to specialist learning spaces. The Master Plan reflects our commitment to providing students with access to contemporary facilities, innovative technologies and inspiring environments that support creativity, collaboration and excellence.

Developed in partnership with leading architects Swanbury Penglase, the Master Plan brings together a bold vision for the future of the College. Swanbury Penglase has played a key role in helping bring this vision to life and will continue to oversee the development of these important projects as the plans progress through construction.

Stage 1: Landmark Facilities for Learning, Performance and Wellbeing

Stage 1 of the Master Plan will deliver two significant new facilities for the College: a state of the art, double Gymnasium and a dedicated Performing Arts Centre.

Designed to meet the needs of current and future generations of students, these purpose-built facilities will incorporate contemporary design principles and state-of-the-art technology, creating dynamic spaces that support learning, creativity and community engagement.

The new Gymnasium will provide a high-quality venue for physical education, sport and College events, while the Performing Arts Centre will offer specialist spaces for music, drama and performance, enabling students to learn and create in an environment that reflects industry standards.

A key component of Stage 1 will also be the development of a standalone home for the Margaret More Centre. This dedicated space will further strengthen the College's commitment to inclusive education, providing tailored facilities designed to support students and their individual learning journeys.

Investing in Specialist Learning

While recent years have seen significant investment in general learning spaces to accommodate the College's growth, the Master Plan represents an exciting shift towards enhancing specialist learning environments.

Future developments will include modernised facilities for:

• Food and Fabrics

These spaces will be designed with the latest technologies and contemporary teaching practices in mind, ensuring students have access to innovative learning opportunities that foster creativity, critical thinking and practical skill development. The Master Plan also includes a new cafeteria, creating a welcoming central hub for students. 

Beyond the new facilities, the Master Plan will transform the heart of the campus by creating a vibrant central gathering space for the entire College community. Centered around the school's "Green Heart", this thoughtfully designed outdoor area will provide a welcoming place for students, staff and families to connect, collaborate and celebrate together. As a central meeting point within the College, it will strengthen the sense of community that is at the heart of school life, offering a beautiful and functional space for events, informal gatherings and everyday connection. 

The finalised Master Plan represents far more than a series of building projects. It is a long-term investment in the future of the College, creating inspiring spaces that support innovation, wellbeing, creativity and excellence for generations of students.
